Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics at Madha Dental College aims to restore the aesthetic structure and function of teeth affilicted with caries/developmental defects/wear/trauma by using state of the art technology and principles in diagnosis, restorative dentistry, regenerative endodontics and root canal treatment.

OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT:

  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs:

The department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, indicating a comprehensive approach to dental education.

  • Pre-clinical Undergraduate Activities:

The department gives pre-clinical training to second year BDS students on cavity preparation, caries control, handling dental materials and introduction to root canal treatment.

  • Clinical Undergraduate Activities:

The department trains undergraduate students (3rd, 4th and CRI students) in the treatment of out patients like restorations and simple endodontic treatments. CRI students are also trained to perform single tooth post endodontic restorations.

  • Postgraduate Activities:

The postgraduates of the department are trained to do all restorative treatments in adult patients, regenerative endodontics, revascularization procedures, vital pulp therapy, routine endodontics, apexification, post-endo restoration, instrument retrieval, single visit endodontics, periapical surgery, reattachment, replantation of avulsed teeth, auto transplantation, hemi-section, vital and non-vital bleaching, direct and indirect veneers, CAD/CAM restorations and non-restorative aesthetic treatments.

  • Laboratories:

The Department has a fully functional simulation lab for preclinical undergraduate/ postgraduate training with phantom head mannequins and typodonts jaws for the various preclinical training programs. A plaster lab and clinical lab with vacuum mixers, plaster dispensers, lathe, model trimmers are available for the chairside model and die preparations. A casting lab and a ceramic lab are available for the postgraduate students to get trained in laboratory procedures in indirect restorations.

  • Research Training:

The department conducts research on various materials used in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, artificial intelligence for diagnostic purpose, non-surgical lesion management strategies, digital and conventional techniques and latest instruments in rotary endodontics which will benefit the patients and the students in the training for Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics.

GOALS:

  • Right to smile – Rehabilitation of rampant caries patient
  • To be the pioneer in our field of expertise and to create highly skilled dental professionals.
  • Establish an atmosphere that encourages the development of endodontic and restorative abilities.
  • To use more state of the art technology and gadgets when practicing restorative and endodontic dentistry.
  • Encouraging innovative capabilities of the students.

OBJECTIVES:

Our goal is to establish a center of excellence for advanced teaching and learning, as well as to advance student’s knowledge via research in dental caries, dental materials, esthetic dentistry and advanced endodontic procedures. To effectively contribute to society, particularly in rural areas. Orientation in a student-centered learning environment is intended to improve student-patient communication. Developing competent, well-efficient dental professionals with the necessary knowledge and abilities in conservative dentistry and endodontics is intended to be achieved by adherence to NABH standards in patient care. To run a program for faculty development that aids in their updating of current developments. To modernize the equipment to advanced tools and standards that will promote better patient care efficiency.
