  • Teaching departmental biopsy cases
  • Teaching external biopsy cases
  • Group discussion during normal class hours and in examination time

GOALS:

  • One of the primary goals is to accurately diagnose various oral diseases, including infections, tumors, and other pathological conditions affecting the mouth, jaw, and surrounding structures.
  • to understand the underlying mechanisms and processes of oral diseases. This involves studying the etiology (cause), pathogenesis (development), and clinical manifestations of oral conditions.
  • Oral pathologists play a crucial role in the overall management of patients with oral diseases. This includes developing treatment plans, collaborating with other healthcare professionals, and providing appropriate recommendations for patient care.
  • Given the interconnected nature of health, oral pathologists collaborate with various medical and dental specialties. This interdisciplinary approach helps in providing comprehensive care to patients with systemic conditions that manifest in the oral cavity or those with oral conditions impacting overall health.
  • Ensuring the quality and accuracy of diagnostic services is a fundamental goal. This involves implementing and adhering to standardized protocols for specimen collection, processing, and analysis to maintain the highest standards in oral pathology.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of oral pathology include accurate diagnosis of oral diseases, risk assessment, development of effective treatment plans, and provision of prognostic information, engagement in research activities, education and training, contribution to preventive dentistry and public health initiatives, maintenance of quality assurance in diagnostic services, and interdisciplinary collaboration for holistic patient care.

HIGHLIGHTS

KEY FEATURES

FACILITIES

    LAB

  • Histopathology Lab

A histopathology lab in the field of oral pathology is a vital component of diagnostic and research processes. Specializing in the microscopic examination of tissues obtained from the oral cavity, this lab plays a pivotal role in identifying and characterizing various oral diseases, including cancers, inflammatory conditions, and developmental abnormalities. Histopathologists analyze biopsy samples, differentiating between benign and malignant lesions, grading tumors, and staging cancers to inform treatment decisions and prognosis. The lab’s collaboration with clinicians and oral pathologists ensures a comprehensive understanding of patients’ conditions, while adherence to stringent quality control measures guarantees the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic services. Additionally, the lab supports research endeavors by providing valuable insights into the cellular and molecular aspects of oral diseases, contributing to advancements in the field.

  • LAB

  • IHC Lab

IHC Lab, or immunohistochemistry laboratory, plays a crucial role in the field of oral pathology by employing specialized techniques to study and analyze the expression of proteins within oral tissues. Immunohistochemistry involves the use of antibodies to detect specific antigens in tissue sections, aiding in the identification of various cellular components and providing valuable insights into the molecular and pathological aspects of oral diseases.

  • LAB

  • Haematological Laboratory

The Haematological Laboratory plays a pivotal role in the realm of oral pathology by examining blood-related parameters that can provide critical insights into systemic conditions affecting the oral cavity. Through the analysis of blood samples, this laboratory assesses hematological parameters such as complete blood count, coagulation profiles, and biochemical markers. These evaluations aid in diagnosing systemic disorders that may manifest oral manifestations, such as bleeding disorders, anemias, or immune-related conditions.
